It’s crazy how the video game industry becomes bigger and bigger every year. Many consider the professional side to be just like “sports” while others ponder why in the world people will even play video games at all. One things for sure and that is the games industry is getting huge about $74 billion per year huge. Gartner Inc even predicts that in about 4 years the gaming industry will be worth $115 billion, that’s insane. Although many of you might think Xbox or PS3 or even the Wii is the ones racking in the money, your wrong, it’s all thanks to the mobile games.
“As the popularity of smartphones and tablets continues to expand, gaming will remain a key component in the use of these devices,” said principal research analyst Tuong Nguyen. “Mobile games are the most downloaded application category across most application stores. For this reason, mobile gaming will continue to thrive as more consumers expand their use of new and innovative portable connected devices.” It seems like a gutsy call as we’re seeing a lot of new systems hitting deck later this year, but I can agree that many of us dedicate our phone space to games.
